Tynton Farm is a 26-acre hill farm in the beautiful Garw Valley of Bridgend.
It is recorded as being the birth place of Dr Richard Price (1723-1791). It is a Grade II listed house and was initially built in the late 1600s. The entire village is now protected as part of a conservation area.
Richard Price was a philosopher and financial genius, he went on to write his theories of government that included the freedom to worship as one wished, freedom of speech and the rights of all men to think and speak as their conscience allowed. When the residents of the new colonies in North America read Dr. Price’s writings, they were inspired to declare Independence from England and set up their own country. They incorporated these into their Declaration of Independence which led to the American War of Independence. They then used Dr. Price’s writings as the basis for their brand new constitution, which is still operative today.
In more recent times, Tynton Farm had become derelict and unloved.
When we found it in 2019, we fell in love with the farm and it has taken several years and all our effort to lovingly restore it into a haven of calm and healing.
Today, the land is full of magic and charm, and I feel incredibly blessed to call it home.
